Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Meet and great our tour representative at the airport and depart for Butare which is the second largest city of Rwanda enroute to Butare, we shall visit Nyanza the former Mwami’s (kings) palace and the steat of federal monarchy as well as the National museum at Butare which is one of the finest ethnographic museum of East Africa. After lunch, we shall continue south to Nyungwe Forest National Park for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest lodge up market Nyungwe top hill lodge (medium) or Gusakra guesthouse (Budget). Have enough rest as you prepare for the adventurous activities the next day.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking In Nyungwe Forest National Park
This morning enjoy your breakfast thereafter proceed for orientation by the guides. And start your chimpanzee tracking experience. This is an adventurous activity that will get you closer to man’s closest relative, the chimps. In the evening return to Nyungwe Forest lodge at Nyungwe Top Hill lodge/ Gisakura guest house for dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Depart From Nyungwe Forest National Park
To Gisenyi on Lake Kivu
After breakfast, we shall leave for Gisenyi passing through the green fields of tea plantations before exploring the shores of Lake Kivu. Gisenyi is contagious with Goma, the City across boarder in Democratic Republic of Congo. The afternoon is about relaxation and marvelous moments on the shores of Lake Kivu. The more energetic can also take a walk around this magnificent area. Enjoy your dinner and overnight at Serena Gisenyi (up market), Paradise Malahie Hotel (mid range and budget)
Day 4: Gisenyi to Parc National Des Volcanos.
Today we have leisurely breakfast as you choose from having a speed boat to stroll the shores of Lake Kivu or just relax and enjoy the sunrise while at the Lake Shores before having lunch at the Hotel, after lunch we shall drive for about 1 and half hours to Ruhengeri the gorilla tracking capital of Rwanda.
Dinner and overnight will be at Jack Hana guest House (up market) Kinigi Guest House (budget)
Day 5: Gorilla Tracking in Park National Des volcanos
National Des Volcanos.
After breakfast you will report to the park headquarters in Kinigi where your guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you of allocating you a gorilla family to track you will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the gorilla tracking formality and how you are to conduct yourself in the forest before and after encountering the gorillas. Return afterwards for lunch at your hotel or at Ruhengeri. Time permitting, we shall have excursion to explore through beautiful twin lakes of Burera and Ruhodo in the region or just conduct a village walk in Ruhengeri or visit the Ibya’lwaa traditional village, where the local community displays the traditional ways of living later in the evening. You will return to Jack Hana Guest House or Kinigi Guest house for dinner overnight.
Day 6: Optional Activities and Transfer to Kigali
In case you wish to take another day tracking the gorilla in Park National des volcanos today we recommend you to visit one of the groups with long high hiking time. The susa group which is located on the slopes of Kirisimbi volcano and has more the 35 members will give you a great sense of achievement.
Alternatively, you may opt for other hikes in the park to include. A walk to visit the Golden monkeys. Listed as ‘’endangered’’ the labiwated groups of about 40 individuals are the only ones to be found in Africa an excursion to Dian Fossey’s grave of the former Karisoke research center or hike to the top of the Bisoke.
Volcano (3711m) and the beautiful craters lake after wards, drive back to Kigali enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way.
